Community Supported Agriculture

What is Community Supported Agriculture?

A farming business model that will allot a certain portion of the season’s yield to the public that is distributed on a regular basis, often referred to as a CSA share. This is a highly beneficial business model for both customer and farmer that allows us to provide high-quality products at a competitive price point.

Why is Cityside.Farm using this model?

The CSA model creates many advantages for both the farm and customers to ensure long-term sustainability from a quality, value, environmental, and economic perspective. Our goal is to have CSA customers that are committed to seasonal subscriptions or shares of crop production before seeds are ever planted. A CSA is a great way to provide a premium product to customers at affordable prices while creating a tighter bond between farmer and customer. Our open gate policy will bring you closer to your food than ever before, plus CSA members will have access to seasonal on-farm events.

How much control does the customer have over their CSA share?

You can choose a frequency and timeframe of the share. Since you are buying a share, you will receive a portion of whatever we harvest that week. We seek to have a wide variety of produce, and will tailor our future production amounts and plant choices based on customer feedback.

How does Cityside.Farm decide what plants to grow?

We grow plants in their natural growing seasons, listen to the needs and wants of our customers, and strive to increase biodiversity. Doing these three things, we can maximize our financial resources, time, space, and energy to achieve the best product. This includes tweaking seed purchases to fit customer preferences and proper bed preparation for specific crops, a vital step to meeting customer needs.

Does Cityside.Farm sell anywhere else?

To give more people the option to try our products, we are currently doing a farm stand onsite approximately twice a month that is fully open to the public. Follow our social media to get updates on the farm stand schedule and for an idea of what will be available. We are also evaluating farmer’s markets and other local markets around OKC to reach other customers who might not be able to commit to a CSA share.

Is there a “pay as you go” CSA share option?

Not right now, we only offer the CSA shares in a prepay format for multiple months. We recommend making a farm stand visit if you want to try it out before committing to a CSA share.

Does Cityside.Farm sell single items online?

We do not due to the level of manpower required to manage and process small and specific orders. If you want to pick and choose your products, visit the farm stand when available.

Do you offer delivery?

Depending where customers are located, we can designate drop-off locations for multi-customer groups around the OKC metro. Otherwise, we only offer pick-up from the farm at 3130 NE 50th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73121.

Does Cityside.Farm ship products?

No. We want to service the OKC metro area only, and we encourage those outside the OKC metro area to support a local farmer who also uses sustainable growing practices.

Is Cityside.Farm organic?

We use regenerative processes that are meant to develop the soil to be a self-sufficient, life giving partner in agricultural production instead of something we have to war against with herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and inappropriate tilling. Instead of seeking Organic certification, which would be an expense that is ultimately passed down to the customer, we have chosen to have a highly relational, open-gate policy that has nothing to hide and invites the customer to participate in the growing process. Our inspectors are our customers, and repeat customers are our certifications.
